SAP Vehicle Management System (IS-A-VMS) Online Training

A vehicle is created through a “create” action in the system to establish a vehicle for a specific model. It serves as an instance of a vehicle model, representing an individual object. A configuration is always generated for each vehicle, and the attributes within the configuration may not yet have any values assigned, partially assigned, or fully completed. The vehicle can be identified by its unique vehicle number and can be further defined using criteria such as a batch, valuation type, or, where applicable, an equipment number.

Key Features:

  • Vehicle Master Data
Manage all your vehicles centrally in a data pool, making them accessible to you and your dealers. Both business and technical master data for each vehicle can be stored within this pool.
  • Vehicle Search
Utilize comprehensive search functions to find vehicles within the data pool, based on criteria like vehicle data, configuration, status, documents, or end customer/consumer details.
  • Execution of Actions
Easily call and execute actions for vehicles from the system. An action refers to a business function that affects the procurement of a vehicle by an importer from the manufacturer or its sale to a dealer.

Purpose:

The Vehicle Management System (VMS) is designed for the automotive industry, supporting business processes in sales and services for vehicle importers. It facilitates interactions with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and dealers in both new and used vehicle sales. VMS provides complete integration across essential processes like procurement, sales, rework, returns, trade-ins, and service processing. It also enables the archiving of vehicle data. This flexibility helps meet customer demands, supports production planning with a “pull strategy,” and optimizes delivery times while minimizing warehouse stock and reducing distribution costs.
